The weather outside was dull and grey, but the mood inside the Magebit household was all but that. Elder Bit was celebrating her 90th year on the planet! Her closest family by her side, she gathered to open gifts, break bread, and pretend she remembered any of them.

Some reactions are just worth capturing.  You’ll notice a small white rectangle on her shirt. Yes? Ok. Now look to your left at my mom. She has one too. Those are name tags. She even has one so we know who she is.

Not long after the formalities we move in for food. Before we can eat, of course, the ritual of blowing out the candles and singing like idiots must happen. I had to get in real close for this shot. My phone doesnt exactly have a massive lens on it!

My mother cuts the cake so that we can eat. The choice was German chocolate cake with coconut shavings. I wont complain about the food. It was all home made by my mother and aunt.

My grandmother’s cat Princess is enjoying some shrimp, fresh from Gloucester, Mass. They were brought by my uncle who is the controls all shipping and processing of seafood for wholefoods in NE New England – Yea if you eat seafood at a Whole Foods in  New England my uncle oversees that shit. Yeah, that means literally nothing. The power of anchovies compels you.

Overall, the party really was a week long celebration because everyone you see in the picture above was terrorizing me all week to set this party up. Emails flying through my inbox about food and music and lighting and tables and whatnot. And here we are. We are all alive.

My gift to my grandmother was a poem. That also took a lot out of me. And took me all week to write….
