Aunt Helen is in town which always feels like an audit. I know she means well, but as my mother and I take care of my grandmother full time she comes in and feels like she has to make up for the lost time. What ends up happening instead is she just causes chaos and gets everyone worked up and then nobody wants to do anything with anyone. I was able to avoid this situation narrowly this time. She made a snide comment about how I bring in money. She tried to tell me because what I do is done online it isn’t real. Okay, lady. I’m not going to take such obvious bait. That doesn’t even make sense. I closed my mouth, walked away, got ready and went off to re-certify with the state’s cannabis program.

Cannabis Culture

I was pleased to see Dr. Julie was still there from last year. She remembered my mother and I. We really liked her so we were happy to see her again. She spent the entire time listening to our concerns and answering our questions about medicine above and beyond cannabis since my primary doctor doesn’t have time for me and my mother’s refused to see her because she was ten minutes late this year. I mean, this visit did cost me $200 so I suppose she can be loose-lipped with the info. Maybe that’s the issue. Maybe if I start walking in and tipping my doctor cash they will strip me naked and give me a real exam. Not that…Wait…Point being I have actual internal problems going on that remain unresolved that doctors won’t look at. Or at least I feel that way. Maybe I just feel severely not listened to? Julie gave us some tips for Fibromyalgia pain to try and even her email address to follow up with her.How very nice of her! I’m glad I was able to turn the day around and not get baited into that fight.

Magebit is ME

I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my first big article for Magebit.me. It’s taking a lot longer than I thought it would. The amount of emotion and recall it requires to put myself back in that state of mind isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I also happened upon a friend who went through a similar stretch who likes to edit literature who is taking some of their time to double check it for quality. So a couple things are delaying it actually. I do expect it to launch in April. That is a big step down from saying it would be out like two Fridays ago or something, but I am a firm believer in not rushing your work. I am also known to border on perfectionism and need to know when to just hit publish. That’s why I’ve given myself a cutoff of April. I will publish the article on the site come the last day of the month or sooner ‘finished’ or not. As long as the story has a coherent ending it is finished. I don’t need to make a masterpiece on my first release. I haven’t written anything for public consumption ever. All of my work has been written for me. This piece was geared specifically with the reader in mind and I don’t know how well I got that across. We shall see. I would say feedback is appreciated, but the site is locked down to only allow feedback from Patreon subscribers. So if you are reading this, you can register an account and reply to any post.

The Farm

Helen will be leaving in the next day or so. Her visits always stir things up in a polarizing way. She brings energy that livens the house. She brings chaos that destabilizes the house. Her go-getting, no-nonsense attitude is useful for getting things done both business and leisure but is tiresome to an introvert who has a limited capacity for social interaction. Seeing her every other month is a good injection of chaos.

We traveled to Drumlin farm, which is an Audubon Society nature reserve. We walked the farm and saw the animals as we do each month.

Drumlin farm has always been a favorite of mine since I was a little child so coming here means a lot to me. Spending time with my aunt and grandmother makes it all the more special. As I grow older, I find that animals are becoming closer to my heart as well. I want to be around nature more than society.

For now, visiting these little friends brings me joy and reminds me where I want to be. The farm is quite empty due to the chilly weather and overcast sky, so we get to enjoy a nice quiet, open vista.

I made an executive decision and decided to take the group off the beaten path and into the woods. Yes, I took my 90-year-old grandmother with dementia into the wilderness of Lincoln. The trails were a bit more advanced than anything she was used to, but she was happy for the experience. Helen gripped her tightly by the arm and guided her around the brush which hid lurking looping roots ready to latch feet.

More Adventures To Come

Once we arrived at the gift shop, Gram approached the bird section and began her search for her new additions to her family. This was what she had been waiting for. The entire trip culminated to this. The birds were stacked neatly on their display petals, one bird per and a big bucket of birds at the bottom to dig through.

After a good twenty minutes of digging and debating, we came down to a choice of three birds. The selections were the robin, the blue grosbeak, and the mallard. Two simple and one rare. A grand total of fifteen birds now reside in this house. No complaints from me. I love birds and I love stuffed toys. Win-win. Helen was extremely generous and bought Gram and my membership to Audobon so now we can enter all year without paying the fee. I expect to make this a much more regular experience for both of us now. I want to become a more outdoors type person. Well, now I have access to 56 nature reserves in the state.

It’s sure been an adventure! I’m glad that we were able to coax gram into stepping outside of her comfort zone without having a meltdown. I hope that next visit we are able to work together like this again successfully.
